Bar Crawl Memories in Oberlin

Our stint in Oberlin, otherwise known as "No Campus for Old Men" provided a fertile ground for the more alcoholic members of Fake Bacon, who partook in some wildly exotic shots, as documented by Shimmy Shaker Erin Prosser

Shimmy Shaker Celia looks on as Jason enjoys a refreshing Flaming Doctor Pepper, begging the question "Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?"

Here, Mike proudly downs his first Blow Job, as the glass gets caught in his mouth. Hey Mikey, looks like you're enjoying that just a little too much.

Here, Scott gives a thumbs up while downing a Flaming Apple Pie. Good thing he has no hair to burn off!

Bye Bye, Bacon Buddy
  • Tributes to Isaiah sprinkled throughout the set to let him know how much he will really be missed. Plus, the presentation of gifts that were almost ready.
  • Isaiah hosted his going away Emo Party.
  • The ladies were lovin' the Jackhole this evening, who seemed to have all the right answers.
  • It was as if David Mamet had tailored the Actor's Nightmare just for us. Are you sure that wasn't all written?
  • Jon C. became the dashing Cary Grant with a Nobel Peace Prize during Press Conference, but he was way too humble to let us know that right away.
  • Time-Life presents the Greatest Woolly Sweater Hits, with a full tune from Isaiah and a disco splash from Jon C.
  • During Bubblegum, Isaiah was on again/off again like a Clapper light switch during a standing ovation.
  • Had a birthday boy up for Family Dinner who dared to include his wife--who was sitting in the audience!!! No cake was thrown.
  • Irish Drinking Song got a little filthy there--just how we like it.
  • A tie! A tie! A palpable tie! Shimmies and Bacon split the coveted prize for Da Do Ron Ron, as Scott and Erin were evidently never giving up the arm wrestle

Fake Bacon @ Oberlin's Improv Til Your Dead 4/19/08

Long, strange trip to Oberlin College's Improv Festival over the weekend. Bacon and Shimmy Shake took the two hour trip north from Columbus and settled into their Motel 6 Amherst berths, before zipping over to the infamous Blue Sky Restaurant, where the amorous waiter brought copious amounts of food.

Made it over all bloated and just in time to catch I Eat Pandas incredible set. The creative, foxy duo had the audience going nuts for their three mini-musicals based upon, of all things, the word "penis" which was shouted out. Pandas took the high road and proved to be some of the best improv anywhere, at all.

After a Saturday chocked filled with workshops, Bacon went on at 11:30 pm. Seems like the cats had their fill of cream, cause when we were announced, you would have thought we'd changed our name to "Please Move To The Exits In A Timely Manner." Those brave few who stuck it out with us saw the following set:

1. Emo Party
2. Mega Replay
3. 3-Headed Jackhole
4. Actor's Nightmare
5. Song Lyrics
6. Bubblegum
7. Family Dinner

Bacon To Go:

  • At the Pope's Emo Party, Scott managed to truly reflect this audience's feelings for Fake Bacon
  • Mega Replay's Battle of Waterloo left us bloodied.
  • Among other things, The Jackhole was able to answer the Koan riddle "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"
  • Jason and John delivered an impassioned Actor's Nightmare, ran out of pages, and kept going anyway!
  • In Song Lyrics, Mike and Scott fell in love at the Dairy Queen with their litany of "Oldies but Never-Heardies"
  • Attack of the Orange and Plaid Stamped Lizard in Bubblegum
  • Finally, a spritely Greek student came up on stage to share some Family Dinner and had a good time with lots of "ding-ding-dings!"

At midnight, Shimmy Shake played clean-up crew with their great set, starting with some acrobatics that are impossible to do on their more compact stages. Shimmy had us back up for Da Do Ron Ron, which John Kuhn grabbed the title and held it for our group.

Next performance Tues April 22, 2008 at Thirsty Ear.

Rants, Raves, and Personal Faves:

  • First of all, the Bacon had to tip its proverbial hat and hairpieces to The Shimmy Shake Project for their amazing Home Shopping Network game. Anyone who was in attendance will never look at a bidet in the same way.
  • The cocks came home to roost at the Emo Party.
  • A little journey to the lion's den during Old Job, New Job. Sold!
  • The Irish Drinking Song hit more speedbumps than a horse-and-buggy ride in Killarney. Next time guys, a little less drinking and a little more singing!
  • As easy as peeling an orange? Not when you're Jackie O!
  • Techie Jesse had such painful memories at Thanksgiving Dinner, he screamed for mercy. "Scene! Scene!"
  • Mike wished John K. was a fatter woman in Actor's Nightmare.
  • Da Do Ron Ron was a horserace between the Shimmies and the Bacon, but Isaiah brought it home and fried it up in a pan for the boys. Poor Gina sucked and had to go open for some band named United 51.

Bacon Bowling Extravaganza!!!

Our annual spring break outing proved to be a real wingding this time as we hightailed it to Eastland Lanes with member John Kuhn's kids in tow. We got there just in time for their $6 shoe and all-you-can-bowl Thursday night special. Point us to the pins, we've arrived in Bowling Nirvana!

We kept the kids up so late that they turned back into pumpkins. Aidan and Teague were great sports as we encouraged them to do such things as break the gutter-lane bumper, eat scalding hot pizza, and throw two balls down the lane at once.

A good time was had by most.
